Ovation Entertainment was established in 2003 as 'DV1', a new and innovative home entertainment distributor showcasing a diverse range of programming spanning Documentaries, Health & Fitness and Film titles for the retail and rental markets.

As a home for many groundbreaking documentaries, including the Rupert Murdoch/Fox news expose 'Outfoxed', Carl Sagan's legendary TV series 'Cosmos' and more recently the history making 'Hunt For HMAS Sydney' DV1 became one of Australia's leading independent DVD distributors.

In 2005, a unique arrangement commenced with our new sister company, pay TV Channel 'Ovation' which included exclusive distribution rights for selected broadcasted concerts and documentaries under the 'Ovation' label. This saw an increase in our distribution commitment to quality music DVDs including the complete DVD and CD catalogue from Belgium's multi-million selling Helmut Lotti, a range of releases from Ireland crooner Tommy Fleming and the acclaimed Elvis Costello TV series 'Spectacle'.

In 2010 DV1 was rebranded Ovation Entertainment Pty Ltd. The new name has officially aligned our DVD distribution with our parent company Ovation Media Pty Ltd whose industry structure also includes the Ovation Channel, Ovation Management, Ovation Events, Ovation Digital and Ovation Licensing.
